WWI Trench

This was a group project where we were given a 'room' to create in a 4ft by 8ft coridor. We were given a WW1 trench and so we had to design as a group, construct the coridor and then create the design inside in full scale. Most things in the coridor were hand made apart from the small tin cup, sock, and photographs that were purchased from charity stores and distressed. This project allowed me to explore scenic painting for the first time and my role entailed the creation of each sandbag, detailing of the walls and floor, ditressing of the ladder and wooden beams along the enterance and floor, and distressing of the photographs. The trench was purchased by Guildhall Museum in Rochester and was on display there as part of its WW1 Centenary Exhibition. It can now be seen at the Sittingbourne Archeological Society.
