This was a 1:25 scale model box design for a production of 'Further Than the Furthest Thing' by Zinnie Harris for the Royal Court Theatre, London. The set design is based mainly on the 'Blind Light' exhibition by Antony Gormley, taking projection influences from Es Devlin. I wanted to create a space that would take the play to a new modern level, performed in a way that people may not have seen or imagined before. I wanted to ensure that the set was versatile for all scenes of the play but specifically focused on Act 2, Scenes 10-12 where Bill dies. I wanted to capture just how trapped he was- not only physically but also mentally and emotionally within himself, portraying this through as much dramatic lighting and sound as possible. The 'Blind Light' inspired box really is one of the best ways to capture this shocking moment, as Antony says Bill is "the subject of the work", he is the "immersed figure in an endless ground".
